We expect big things from the Chicago White Sox in 2007. After winning the World Series in 2005, the White Sox failed to even make the playoffs in 2006, We like them to bounce back winning American League Central and to make a run at another World Series title.

South Side supporters finished well in the money in 2005 at +2301 units, but in just a year’s time they dropped to -313 units. We anticipate another lucrative year this season, not as lucrative as 2005, but profitable none the less.

With 90 wins in 2006, it’s not like the White Sox fell off the horse. It will be easy for them to right their wrongs this season as they have the most talent in the league. The White Sox have one of the most talented young starting rotations in all of baseball with Contreras, Garland, Buehrle, and Vasquez. Gavin Floyd, who comes over from Philly will likely be the number five, but don’t be surprised if Guillen turns to one of his young arms in the minors at some point. Despite, maybe just one hole, the Sox will be a force in any ball park this season.

The stretch run is where Chicago is going to have to find a way to kick it in gear. In 2005, the Sox became apathetic down the stretch until they could feel Cleveland breathing down their necks. With a month to go in the 2006 season, the Sox were very much still alive in the AL Central hunt sitting in second place, but they could not keep pace with Minnesota. Good teams don’t lose focus and I think Chicago will learn from its mistakes, but if the South Siders go south late in the year don’t continue backing them thinking that they are going to come around. Until this team can show us that they can close out the regular season, we aren’t going to touch this team.

The Sox have plenty of sticks to be considered one of the better hitting teams in the American League. Jim Thome stepped right in and produced in his first year with the Sox launching 42 homers and adding 109 RBI’s. Jermaine Dye, used to fly under the radar in this explosive lineup, but those days are over as he busted out for 44 homeruns and 120 RBI’s in 2006. Add Konerko and Crede to this mix and you’re looking at one of the most potent lineups in all of baseball.

You won’t see the offense failing the Sox in 2007. Last year, with Contreras and Buehrle under achieving, the pitching let the Sox down. I think it all comes together again for Chicago in 2007.
