Here’s what the oddsmakers are telling us with their lines in week 8 action:
Sunday, 10/28/2007
Cleveland Browns 25
St Louis Rams 21
The books feel the Browns will pick up their first road win of the year this week against the winless Rams who have done just about everything wrong this season.
Detroit Lions 20
Chicago Bears 25
They like the Bears to return the favor at home against Detroit avenging an earlier season loss to the Lions.
Indianapolis Colts 26
Carolina Panthers 19
Carolina is coming off a bye week. Indy is playing with one less day’s rest after having a Monday nighter last week. No matter. Indy’s impressive road win at Jacksonville has oddsmakers convinced that the Colts will make it to 7-0.
New York Giants 29
Miami Dolphins 19
Miami is in the race with St. Louis to see which team will go longer this season without a win. The oddsmakers are giving Miami less of a chance to win this week against the hot G-Men.
Oakland Raiders 17
Tennessee Titans 24
The Titans have played just 2 games at home this season. With as solid as Tennessee has been on the road, the books feel the Titans will be even better at home against Oakland.
Philadelphia Eagles 19
Minnesota Vikings 18
Oddsmakers feel that Philly is the slightly better team at Minnesota this Sunday. Both teams have been inconsistent and the books are more or less calling this one a toss up.
Pittsburgh Steelers 26
Cincinnati Bengals 22
Cincy’s win over the Jets didn’t impress bookmakers too much. They like the Steelers to bounce back on the road in this one.
Buffalo Bills 17
New York Jets 20
The Bills have one more win than does the Jets, but Buffalo’s poor road performances has Vegas leaning toward New York.
Jacksonville Jaguars 14
Tampa Bay Buccaneers 17
With Jacksonville starting a QB who is making his NFL debut as a starter, oddsmakers feel Tampa Bay will squeak out this defensive battle.
New Orleans Saints 22
San Francisco 49ers 19
These teams are heading in opposite directions. The books have favored the one of the upswing.
Washington Redskins 15
New England Patriots 32
New England tallied another blowout win last week giving oddsmakers no choice but to face them with another huge spread. The books feel the Redskins’ defense will do nothing to New England’s high powered passing attack.
Monday, 10/29/2007
Green Bay Packers 19
Denver Broncos 22
Denver’s big win over Pittsburgh last week gives the Broncos a much needed lift. A revitalized Denver team pulls out a close one over Green Bay on Monday night.
