Last week, the Patriots were listed as just 3.5 point favorites at home. They went on to embarrass the spread beating the San Diego Chargers by 24 points. Because Chicago was able to shut down San Diego’s running game the week before, we were pretty sure that the Patriots would be able to as well on their home field. Also, after the NFL cracked down on New England, they added some extra motivation for the Patriots. This is an example of how you can decide if you feel a line is a mistake. We felt like the Chargers had not shown the offensive capability to contend with New England on the road.
