Super Bowl Party Games
May 27, 2008
Most of us won’t have the luxury of seeing the New England Patriots and the New York Giants going head-to-head live at Super Bowl XXLII. But the Super Bowl can still be one of the best events of the year in your own home if you have the right Super Bowl party games ready to go. Take note of these party pleasing games and your guests will keep coming back year after year, even if they land tickets to the big game. Ok, well maybe I shouldn’t go that far.
Drinking Games
What’s a Super Bowl party without a little booze? Drinking games can be a very enjoyable way to experience the game. The game doesn’t start until the afternoon so get an early start and play a little bags in the front yard if the weather is nice. Basements and garages will work fine for you cold weather folks. If you guys are much for football tailgating at all, you’ve seen the sloped scoring boxes with a hole in the top. The object is to get your bean bags through the hole. Sounds easy enough, huh? It’s the same concept as horse shoes or a number of other similar games. Divide up into teams and play it out. Make the losers pick up extra beer for the party. Remember to pace yourselves or you might be snoozing by half time of the big game.
Game of Football
If you have some big time competitors, how about dividing up and playing a little game of touch football. As always, losers by the beer.
Madden
Chances are, there are a few video game junkies out there. Playing a Giants versus Patriots Madden matchup prior to the big game is a great way to get your party started.
Bar Games
If you have a game room, shooting a little stick, playing darts, or foosball can always turn into a good time. Especially when mixed with the right beverages.
Betting Pool
And what is a Super Bowl party without a betting pool? You can go the betting squares route or you can make up wager sheets. Because betting squares is a test of luck and picking winners requires knowledge, I prefer to go the wager sheet route. Make a sheet of different bets such as the straight up winner, spread winner, and the total winner. Add prop bets as well. If you need some ideas on these, you can check out the extensive list online at Bodog Sportsbook. Charge $5 per wager sheet and whoever cashes in the most bets takes down the pot.
Cards
Playing cards is another way to get through the lengthy pregame and halftime shows. A little poker never hurt anybody.
Hopefully, these Super Bowl party game tips will make your bash the talk of the town and providing your guests with high quality cuisine won’t hurt either.
