The favorites this year resemble last year’s playoff contenders with Chicago leading the way followed closely by New Orleans.  One of the reasons for this is that both teams return most of their starters from a year ago, and with a couple of youngsters in Rex Grossman and Reggie Bush that only stand to get better, anything less than a return to the Championship game for these two teams has to be considered a disappointment.  Some other teams that are being given a lot of credit are the Carolina Panthers, who also return a lot of players from the same team all the experts where hyping as a Super Bowl contender at this time a year ago, the Dallas Cowboys, who have a new head coach in Wade Phillips that is supposed to match up better with the personel and bring a more aggressive form of defense, and the Philadelphia Eagles, who always seem to be in the hunt even when they have a “down” year like last season.  McNabb’s health is going to be a key factor for Philly though as they let Jeff Garcia part in the off-season to Tampa Bay.
