Odds to Win the NFC North 2007
May 27, 2008
You are going to have to pay a little juice to get the Chicago Bears with your NFC North division futures bet in 2007, but it will be worth it as the defending NFC champions should cruise through the North again this season.

We’ll continue our trend of backing the most solid defensive units as it has produced winning results for years. I expect the Lions, Packers, and Vikes to all improve (they couldn’t get any worse) this season, but the best of these three, likely Green Bay, will still come up at least three games shy of the Bears.
The Packers have stuck to a build from within approach which has kept money in their pockets and has slowly built a team which may be able to get in the playoff in 2007. The biggest reason for Packers fans to get excited again is because the defense is finally in a position to do some damage and the offense boasts a top ten passing attack.
The Detroit Lions got yet another top notch receiver with their top draft choice. The problem is that they don’t have an All-Pro caliber QB to deliver the ball in Mike Martz’s complex offensive scheme. Still Detroit has a great passing offense which is sure to stun some top teams at times this season, but the defense is still awful and the offense must get something done on the ground before it can compete.
The Vikings showed that they can stuff the run last season, but they also showed that they can give up a ton through the air. The best defense against the run was also the worst against the pass in 2006. Their first round draft pick, running back Adrian Peterson, will be looked upon to be the savior of this team.
The Bears are the best in the NFL at coming up with turnovers and that defensive approach will terrorize this division again in 2007, especially against the young Lions and Vikings’ offenses. The Bears are not showing good value at 1/3 odds, but they are the bet that is going to bring home the bacon in this division.
