Odds to Win the NFC East
May 27, 2008
Expectations were very high for the New York Giants in 2006, but after another disappointing year, and with the loss of an All-Pro tailback, the Giants may be competing with the Washington Redskins for third place in the NFC East.

The Cowboys appeared down and out under Drew Bledsoe last season, but Bill Parcells made the move to go with unproven back-up Tony Romo and a playoff berth ensued. But now the Tuna is out and Romo must contend with the pressure that expectations bring. With TO ready to implode or explode at anytime, we don’t feel the Cowboys are ready to overtake the class of this division. We’re, of course, referring to the Philadelphia Eagles. Listed at +175 by BetUS, we feel Philadelphia is actually undervalued as they are listed with the same odds as the Cowboys despite having a more experienced and complete roster. The Eagles have one of the best offensive lines in the game and with Donovan McNabb returning healthy we can expect the Eagles’ offense to be flying high once again in 2007. With Brian Westbrook becoming a more every down player in McNabb’s absence last season, the Eagles’ offense gains another facet. But it’s the Eagles’ pressure defense that gives them the decisive edge in this division and even makes them a Super Bowl contender in the NFC. Philly brings the heat on almost every play from varying levels of the defense to keep teams off balance and to dictate the tempo of the game. You can equate this scheme to a full-court press in basketball.
The Redskins at least had defense to fall back on until last season. Now we really don’t know what to expect out of this team except that they won’t be a very solid or consistent team in 2007. No offensive fire power and a defense which must right several wrongs this season will keep Joe Gibbs and company scratching their heads.
The value is good in taking the Eagles as we will get some decent bang for our buck. Take the Philly boys in 2007 to win the NFC East and don’t think twice about it.
