Let’s get started in the NFC where we think this weekend will find Seattle and the Giants advancing to the next round. The Giants have been playing really well and even though Tampa has played well defensively this year, we were impressed by how Eli handled the Patriots last week and think that is going to carry over to the playoffs. Seattle has been forgotten out West, while the Redskins have been coming on strong. Expect the Seahawks to remind people who has done the best consistently in the NFC over the past couple seasons.
After those two games it will be the Cowboys playing host to the Giants. Dallas will be a heavy favorite here and it’s tough for us to see them losing the game. Seattle will have to head to Green Bay to play Favre and the Packers. Holmgren will have a few tricks up his sleeve for his old team and we see Seattle heading down to Dallas to play the Cowboys, but the magic wearing out as America’s team heads to the Super Bowl.
Out in the AFC we have the easiest first round game to pick in San Diego and the toughest in Jacksonville Pittsburgh. Everyone is writing off the Steelers in this one, but the home field is going to provide the advantage as the Jags show they are a little over-hyped.
San Diego will then have to head to Indy to take on the Colts. The Colts have been banged up and we don’t think they are as good of a team as a year ago, with San Diego not getting enough credit we see them sneaking up on the public and finding themselves in the championship game. With Pittsburgh heading to New England, we don’t have any troubles saying that the Pats will walk away with this one and play host to the Chargers. New England doesn’t need extra motivation for anyone, but how LT reacted after New England beat them last year, and then his comments about their head coach after the SpyGate storm at the beginning of the year, expect another impressive performance by the Pats.
