The NFL season seems to be approaching more and more quickly. With this in mind we are going to take a look at the NFC South division and see what they have to offer. This division is not usually known for amazing teams but a couple of them may have a chance this season. Let’s take a look at some odds and teams in the NFC South:

New Orleans Saints (Odds to Win the NFC South +110) – Last season the Saint’s had a disaster of a season. Their defense was one of the worst in the entire NFL, especially against the pass. During the off season the team made some moves to correct problems that needed to be fixed and they look for a fresh start this year. The Saints traded and got Sedrick Ellis. He is a monster and he has not had any major injuries in the past. Sedrick should be able to collapse the entire pocket and make the defensive line a lot better. New Orleans have also upgraded at CB, with Randall Gay replacing David Joseph. The Saints are a great team with an excellent offense and with the new and improved defense they should have a legitimate shot at winning the NFC South division.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Odds to Win the NFC South +200) – The Bucs are in a division that has seen almost every team make some type of move to try and catch them. So far, it looks like Gruden and his team are still going to remain at the top of the NFC South. The Buccaneers are an aging team with nobody who is really old or really young. They seem to have a very good mix and manage to get the job done when needed too. Tampa Bay has Aqib Talib who is a very talented young bump and run corner that should be able to fit in well and thrive on the cover 2 defense. The Bucs sport a solid team this year with both Cadillac Williams and Ernest Graham at running back and are defiantly the team to beat in the AFC South.

Carolina Panthers (Odds to Win the NFC South +250) – The Panthers always seem to have injury plagued seasons. It looks like head coach, Fox is going to be riding his hopes on quarterback Jack Delhomme again. Also Landon Johnson is a very good LB who should be able to stay healthy. Muhammed will return as a strong threat in the passing game. I feel that the Panthers will defiantly need to break the .500 mark if they want their coach to keep his job. They have a fairly easy schedule and should be able to do so but not really compete with the best.

Atlanta Falcons (Odds to Win the NFC South +2000) – The Falcons first point of concern is at the quarterback position. They drafted Matt Ryan, but he doesn’t really have many options to throw too. Roddy White is really is only option, with Crumpler being down. To improve the offensive line the Falcons got OT Sam Baker who should add a lot of depth. This seems like a much improved team from last year but it is going to take a lot of time for them to grow. I think that they will not really be able to compete with anyone in the division and finish in last place.
