2008 LifeLock.com 400 Predictions & Preview

July 8, 2008

Another week of NASCAR racing and another win by Kyle Busch, last weekend the Sprint Cup points leader did it again winning the Coke Zero 400 over Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth. This weekend the attention moves to Chicagoland Speedway as drivers get geared up for the 2008 LifeLock.com 400 that will get going on Sunday, July 12th. Last year Tony Stewart was able to enter victory lane for the 2nd time at Chicagoland. Drivers will have to deal with what many consider a “cookie cutter” track that resembles a D-shape, but Chicagoland is a little bit more unique in the fact that is just one continuous curve from start to finish. So to get you going on the upcoming event Jason Lowry is going to bring you his weekly 1-2-3 finish for the upcoming race this weekend.

1. Carl Edwards 7/1 at Sportsbook.com
If you want to talk about a driver that has been pretty solid all season long, than you have to talk about Carl Edwards, as he has already notched 3 wins this season and 13 top 10 finishes. It looks like Edwards just might have Chicagoland figured out as he finished 3rd here last season. Even though Busch is the best driver out there, we think Edwards sneaks one in this weekend.

2. Kyle Busch 6/1 at Sportsbook.com
All of the sudden this guy has a 182 point lead in the point standings, and it seems like this guy is winning almost every single weekend. In the 18 Sprint Cup races this season Busch has already won 6 races. and its not like is all or nothing, as he has 5 other top 5 finishes this season. Busch has never won at Chicagoland, and his best performance was a 3rd place finish back in 2006. Don’t be surprised to see this guy near the top yet again this week at the LifeLock.com 400.

3. Jeff Gordon 15/1 at Sportsbook.com
Gordon is still looking for that first win of the season, but it hasn’t kept him from staying in the top 12 in the point standings. Gordon currently sits in 6th place just a little under 100 points from 5th place. Gordon has won here before back in 2006, and has 3 other top 5 finishes as well over the years. If the top two guys slip up then look out for Gordon to surprise and take home the win this weekend with some great odds.
