New York Giants Green Bay Packers Spread, Odds, & Predictions

The New York Giants head to legendary Lambeau this Sunday to take on the Packers as one of the best road teams in the league takes on one of the best home squads. Oddsmakers have set the line in favor of Green Bay by a touchdown right out of the gates. The NFC title game was supposed to be a Green Bay vs. Dallas rematch, but the Giants have continued their unlikely road run to the NFC Championship Game and now cannot be taken lightly. The veteran Favre will look to put himself in position to win another title in his storied career while Eli Manning looks to emerge from his brother’s shadow by getting to the Super Bowl. Two of the most storied NFL franchises will duke it out in a cold weather battle Sunday and the better team will move on to the Super Bowl.
Manning’s ability to manage the game and avoid costly turnover has perhaps, more than anything else, been the reason why New York is in a position to get to the Super Bowl. Eli is showing more confidence under center and that is being carried over to press conference where we don’t see the scared puppy that we are used to seeing. But if New York walks out of Lambeau with a win, it will be because the defense got to Favre. The Giants have held both of their playoff opponents to just two touchdowns, pressuring both Romo and Garcia into mistakes and hurried throws. Before you rule out the G-men, remember that they have won 9 in a row on the road.
The Packers were expected to be a team on the fence to make it to the playoffs this season, but Favre and his cast of youngsters have emerged into an NFC powerhouse. It all started with the momentum gained by closing out last season on such a positive note. Green Bay is 18-3 in its last 21 games to show you the kind of roll this team has been on. Green Bay didn’t even come close to folding when Seattle had them down by two scores last week. They stormed back to bury the Seahawks by better than 3 touchdowns. With a number of young guns showing that they can and will make plays, Favre has put more trust in his teammates which has eliminated costly turnovers and made the Packers a much better team. With Ryan Grant emerging as a talented runner, Green Bay added balance to one of the most potent offenses in the NFL. What resilience this kid showed, by rushing for more than 200 yards after fumbling twice early on in last week’s game. Eli will need to be aware of where Harris and Woodson are at all times. The Pack seem to have it going.
