Bills vs. Jaguars Picks, Odds, & NFL Predictions
September 10, 2008
Sunday Sept. 14 the Buffalo Bills will look to make it 2-0 when they head to Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars, as they look to even up on the season at 1-1. The Bills were able to make easy work of the Seahawks last week winning 34-10, as they scored two touchdowns on special teams. The Jaguars suffered a tough loss to the Titans and their offensive line, as two starters left the game and did not return. With every game important here is a look at both teams going into the game this weekend.
Current Odds at JustBet.com
Bills +5.5
Jaguars -5.5
We already mentioned the Bills scored twice on special teams, that included a 63yd punt return by Roscoe Parrish, and a fake field. That wasn’t the scoring as second year quarterback Trent Edwards looked impressive throwing for 215 yards and a score. Fellow second year player running back Marshawn Lynch did his part as well running for 78 yards and a score. The team was happy to see receiver Lee Evans have a big day, as he needed just 4 catches to rack up 102 yards. Robert Royal lead the way with 6 grabs, and was the recipient of Edwards touchdown throw. The Bills could have trouble running against the tough defense of the Jaguars, which could mean Edwards will be expected to do a little more through the air.
On defense the Bills had to be happy with what they saw, as they pretty much held the Seahawks in check from start to finish. Matt Hasselbeck has earned the reputation of being one of the better throwers in the league, but that wasn’t the case last weekend, as he was just 17-41, and would up throwing a pick to corner Terrence McGee. While just allowing 85 yards on the ground, the Bill up front were also able to rack up 5 sacks. Defensive tackle Marcus Stroud was a beast in his first game as a Bill, as he racked up 2 sacks to go along with his 7 tackles. The Bills defense looks for real, and will get another solid test against the Jags. Bet Bills +5.5 at JustBet.com
The Jaguars couldn’t get anything going against the Titans defense, as they were able to muster just 33 total yards between the running back combo of Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor. While part of that had to do with the injuries to the offensive line, most of it had to do with just how good the Texans are in that side of the ball. Quarterback David Garrard did throw for 215 and a score, but also threw 2 picks as well. After giving up 7 sacks last week, the Jags are sure to get plenty of more pressure this week.
The Jaguars defense was solid, as it only gave up just 17 points, and grabbed two interceptions from quarterback Vince Young. The Jags weren’t really able to get much pressure on the Titans quarterbacks, as they were able to only get 1 sack. Corner Brian Williams and tackle John Henderson both grabbed 8 tackles to lead the team. The Jaguars will not only have to be good on defense, but will have to be ready to go on special teams as well, as the Bills have one of the best units in the league. Bet Jaguars -5.5 at JustBet.com
Predicted Score:

Jaguars 22
