This is the last leg of the Triple Crown and after the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness everyone should have a lot more information at their finger tips for making Belmont Stakes predictions.  This means that the odds are a little more accurate for this race than any other, but it also means that bettors have a better chance of capitalizing on the knowledge gained during the racing season.  This race is normally held on the second Saturday of June, or five weeks after the Derby so you’ll have had more than a month to gather information on the horses that make it through more than one leg of the big three.

When making Belmont Stakes predictions you will want to factor in the length of the track at 1.5 miles.  This is the longest of the legs of the Crown and that is why it’s called the Test of the Champion.  You’ll want to find a horse that has the stamina and endurance to make it through that distance, and a trainer who has been around getting horses ready for this length.  D. Wayne Lukas had great success in the 1990’s, but it seems like there haven’t been any mainstays in the winner’s circle since.
