2008 Barclays Scottish Open Picks & Odds
July 7, 2008
This weekend we take a trip overseas for a look at the 2008 Barclays Scottish Open that gets underway this Thursday, and professional handicapper Jason Lowry is ready to make a closer look at the upcoming tournament. With the British Open just two weeks away, and some of the biggest names in golf right now in action, this tournament has plenty of attraction. While many American fans will have trouble knowing the names of the golfers in action, the list of favorites are faces you should easily be able to recognize. But I wouldn’t suggest banking on a favorite to win this thing this weekend, as there is plenty of European talent in the field. Here is a look at the 4 favorites and there shots at winning this thing.
Phil Mickelson - 8/1 at Bodoglife.com
Its always been tough for Americans to win on European soil, and Mickelson will have the chance to do just that this weekend, as he trys and get his game ready for the upcoming open where he has failed to play well in the past. Mickelson has the game to win wherever he tees it up, but its a matter of if Phil can control himself, and make the smarter shot and keep his head.
Ernie Els - 10/1 at Bodoglife.com
Anytime this guy is on a golf course, you have to think he has a shot to win that weekend. Els has been one of the more consistent golfers over the years, and its European land where this guys seems to play his best. Els is known for his great play almost every year at the British Open and you know he is getting tuned up for another run at the Claret Jug.
Adam Scott: 12/1 at Bodoglife.com
This just might be the guy no one really know about, and he is going to all the sudden have a couple majors and multiple tour wins, and every saying where did this kid come from. But because he plays on the European Tour as well as the PGA Tour, we sometimes miss out on just how good this guy can be. Scott is only 27 and we think this weekend is where it all starts.
Lee Westwood 15/1 at Bodoglife.com
Westwood is another guy that definitely has what it takes to win this weekend. Westwood is currently 3rd on the European Tour with 6 top 5 performances in just 8 events this season. Westwood is also making noise on the PGA Tour where he has finished tied for 11th at the Masters and just finished 3rd at the US Open a few weeks back.
There is plenty to like in these 4 guys when you are thinking about winning the tournament this weekend, and if you feel that you have that guy picked out head over to Bodoglife.com and get an account up an going today.
