Let’s be honest here, whenever someone mentions the AFC East division only one team really comes to mind. That team of course is the New England Patriots. The Pats are massive favorites to win the division with ease and no other team really comes close. Let’s take a look at New England and there odds as well as the rest of the AFC East:

New England Patriots ( Odds to Win the AFC East -1000) – It is not that hard to see why the New England Patriots are huge favorites to win the AFC. Last season they had a very historical run as they went undefeated throughout the regular season and lost only in the Super Bowl. New England was stellar on both offense and defense. They averaged 32.1 points per game which was first in the league. They also allowed only 19.3 points a game which was 3rd in the league. The Bill Belichick and Tom Brady trust connection will be great this year again as the Pats will win the AFC East without a question.

Buffalo Bills ( Odds to Win the AFC East +800) – During the off season the Bills have spent a lot of money to add some good veterans to team up with their young and hungry players. This year Buffalo will be looking to sneak into the playoffs as a Wild Card. They managed to averaged 23.9 points per game last year and allowed 22.2 a game on defense. The Bills are an average team looking to get better. I feel that Buffalo’s biggest strength is their rushing offense. If they can utilize this to their strength they might be able to surprise some teams.

New York Jets ( Odds to Win the AFC East  +1400) – Over the off season the New York Jets have made some great additions to the offensive line as well as the backfield to try to improve their running game. Add in a couple good draft picks to help out on the other end of the ball and this means that the defense gets better and will work well under the 3-4 scheme. The Jets still don’t really have a good downfield passing game and also are in need or a good corner. I don’t think that the Jets will really be able to compete with New England of Buffalo in this division or will even get over .500. Last season they averaged 22.1 points per game and allowed 24.2 a game. Also they have a very tough schedule coming into 2008 so don’t expect them to do much in the AFC East.

Miami Dolphins ( Odds to Win the AFC East  +2000) – The Dolphins are coming off one of their worst season in NFL history. They have added a great coach who knows a lot in Bill Parcells but he alone cannot turn Miami into a Super Bowl contender. I feel that they will improve for sure, as it should not be too hard to do so considering last year. They averaged only19.9 points per game last season and allowed 28.3 points a game. In each category they were tanked 29th in the entire NFL. They won’t really do much this season as it will be a rebuilding year.
