Sunday Sept. 14th, a battle of 0-1 teams will square off when the San Francisco 49ers take on the Seattle Seahawks. Last week the 49ers got it handed to him 23-13 at home against the Cardinals, while the Seahawks went to Buffalo and got worked 34-10. Both teams look to shake off the first week let down, and come away with a win, and get back to .500, while the losing team finds themselves in a decent hole at 0-2.

49ers +6.5
Seahaws -6.5

The 49ers offense was few a little last week, as they only player who found the endzone was running back Frank Gore. Gore actually put together a pretty solid game running for 96 yards on just 14 carries. Why he didn’t get the ball more often is beyond us. After winning the starting quarterback job from Alex Smith J.T. O’Sullivan was mediocre throwing for 195 yards, no scores, and 1 interception. The receivers really didn’t do much either as Gore was the leading receiver as well, grabbing 4 catches for 55 yards. If the 49ers want to get better they have to get better production out of their receivers, or teams are going to simply focus on Gore and make someone else beat them. Also the team has to hold on to the football, as they gave up four fumbles last week.

The 49ers weren’t able to hold the Cardinals offense to often as Edgerrin James ran for 100 yards, and quarterback Kurt Warner was able to throw for 197 yards and a score. The 49ers weren’t able to create any turnovers as well, but they were able to find the quarterback 3 times, including two sacks by linebacker Parys Haraison. The 49ers defense is better than they played last week, and star linebacker Pattrick Willis is going to get better.

The Seahawks offense wasn’t much to speak of, as they were only able to grab 81 yards on the ground, and quarterback Matt Hasselbeck had to throw 41 times for just 190 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. Part of that has to do with a depleted receiving core, but they had to like what they got out of Nate Burleson, as he grabbed 5 balls for 60 yards and a score. Newly acquired running back Julious Jones was average in his first game as a Seahawk running 13 times for 45 yards. The thing is this team has to get better, and they will get another tough test against a good 49ers defense.

The Seahawks defense against the Bills offense wasn’t on the ball last week, as they gave up a punt return for a touchdown, and forgot to cover one of the Bills players on a field goal, and it wound up going for a score. As for playing against the Bills offense they really didn’t do all that well as second year players Trent Edwards and Marshawn Lynch both tore up the Seahawks defense. Edwards threw the ball well throwing for 215 yards and a score, while Lynch ran for 76 and a score. The Seahawks were also unable to force any turnovers, but they only got to the quarterback once. The Seahawks defense has to play better, and like the 49ers defense, it should get better as the season rolls on.

Predicted Score:
49ers 15
Seahawks 22
