2008 3M Performance 400 Predictions & Preview
August 12, 2008
With the race for the Chase in full effect Jason Lowry is ready to bring you his 2008 3M Performance 400 race predictions. The race is set to get underway this Sunday afternoon from Michigan International Speedway. While Kyle Busch won again last weekend at the Centurion Boats at the Glenn, Kurt Busch is the defending champion at the race this weekend, and he will be going for his 2nd win this season. While many drivers are set in the top 12 for seasons end, there are still a few drivers fighting to either get in or stay in the top 12. With so many drivers having a chance to win each and every week, we figure it wouldn’t hurt to give you our opinion on we think the 1-2-3 will be. So here is our take on the 3M Performance 400.
1) Jimmie Johnson +500 odds to win at BetUS.com
Johnson currently sits in 3rd in the points standing a distance 244 points out of first, but keep your eye on Johnson, as he has been known to really put it on at the end of the season. Just remember last year when Jeff Gordon looked like he was on his way to another season championship before Johnson stole it away. Johnson came in 7th last week, and it marked the 4th straight race in the top 10. Johnson is primed for a big run this weekend, and he is our best bet to win this race.
2) Matt Kenseth +600 odds to win at BetUS.com
This race really means something for Kenseth, as he currently sits in the cut off position at No. 12 just 22 points ahead of 13th place driver Clint Bowyer. Kenseth should have some confidence coming into the race this weekend, as he has done well here over the years, including a 1st place finish back in 2006, and a 4th place finish here a year ago. Look for a strong finish from the No. 17 driver this weekend.
3) Jeff Gordon +1400 odds to win at BetUS.com
Its hard to imagine we are closing down on the season’s end and we have still yet to see arguably one of the best drivers to ever get a race car win a race. Though Gordon has yet to win in 2008, he has raced well enough to sit in 6th place in the point standings, thanks to his 8 top 5 finishes. Gordon really didn’t do well last weekend at the Centurion Boats at the Glenn finishing 29th, but we got a real good feeling about Gordon this weekend. Its been 10 years since Gordon won this race, and we wouldn’t be surprised if he wins again this weekend.
