There are only 6 races left before the Sprint Cup field is cut down to the final 12, and that makes this weekends race at Pocono Raceway a big one. Professional handicapper Jason Lowry is ready to bring you his 2008 Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 predictions, set to get underway on Sunday Aug. 3. With many drivers still fighting for position, Jimmie Johnson was able to deal with all the tire troubles from last week and improve his chances of coming back this season with his 2nd win at the Brickyard 400. This weekend Kurt Busch will be trying to defend his title here at Penn. and try and take home the checkered flag for the 3rd time in 4 years. Here is our weekly 1-2-3 prediction for the Pennsylvania 500.

1. Kyle Busch + 600 at Sportsbook.com
Probably the most hated driver in NASCAR has dominated racing this season, seeming to win almost every single weekend. After two straight wins at the Coke Zero 400 and the LifeLock.com 400, Busch came slightly back to reality last week with a 15th place finish at the Allstate 400. Busch hasn’t had a lot of success at Pocono Raceway, but that isn’t stopping us from picking this guy to win this weekend. Busch has been winning on all kinds of tracks this season, and we feel he is going to take advantage of this being the 2nd race ran on this track this season.

2. Dale Earnhardt Jr. +1200 at Sportsbook.com
Earnhardt Jr has yet to grab a win at Pocono Raceway, but has performed well there with five top 5 finishes including a 4th place finish here earlier in the year at the Pocono 500. Earnhardt Jr came in 12th last weekend, but still sits 253 points behind Busch in the standings. We like Earnhardt Jr’s chances this weekend, but we see him falling just short to Busch.

3. Kasey Kahne +500 at Sportsbook.com
Kahne really got his season going with his 2nd win of the year at the Pocono 500 earlier this year. Since that great run Kahne has remained a force in the Sprint Cup standings. Right now Kahne sits pretty safe at 9th in the standings, but needs to continue to perform well, as the better he does now the less he has to worry when the season winds up. Kahne did just that last week at the Allstate 400 where he finished 7th. If Busch and Earnhardt Jr struggle this weekend, Kahne could wind up taking both events at this racetrack.

So there you have it our 1-2-3 prediction for the upcoming race this weekend, if you are looking for the rest of the fields odds check out the complete list below. Also for those of you looking to place a bet on the race this weekend, head over to Sportsbook.com and get an account started today.
