ere were a lot of pitchers that weren’t big names coming into the season, but they got off to great starts and made a lot of money for those bettors backing them with their baseball betting.   Today we are going to take a look at a few of the hottest under-the-radar guys and how they have done since coming out of the gates so strongly.

Cliff Lee – Cleveland Indians

Lee got off to a hot start and since he’s been around for years it really did come out of nowhere.  He isn’t shutting everyone down like he was in his first starts, but the team is still winning when he takes the mound.  The Indians are 5-1 in Lee’s last six appearances after going a perfect 6-0 in his first six outings.  Lee now stands at 10-1 on the year with a quality 2.45 ERA.

Edinson Volquez – Cincinnati Reds

Volquez has been amazing in his 16 starts this season.  The Reds are 12-4 when he starts the game on the hill, but even the losses can’t really be blamed on him as he has allowed just three earned runs over those four outings.  He’s now sitting at 10-2 with a 1.71 ERA and he hasn’t skipped a beat.

Ervin Santana – Los Angeles Angels

Here is a guy that has cooled off recently.  Don’t be fooled by the 3.17 ERA and 9-3 record Santana has right now as the Angels have gone 3-5 in his last 8 outings.  This is the kind of player you need to look to fade when the baseball odds come out.

Mark Hendrickson – Florida Marlins

Hendrickson helps the Marlins win six of his first eight starts, but he is only 2-4 since the middle of May.  Without a single victory in over a month and an ERA that has sky rocketed to 5.73, you are going to want to avoid him like the plague.

Daniel Cabrera – Baltimore Orioles

Cabrera was a big reason the Orioles got off to a hot start, but he’s came back to reality lately.  This guy helped Baltimore win eight of his first nine starts, but now the team has lost five of his last six outings.

Livan Hernandez – Minnesota Twins

This is a guy that looked to be back to his Florida Marlins form from their first World Series run to start the season.  The Twins won eight of his first nine starts, but like some of the other hot starters he came back to reality.  Hernandez has given up five or more runs in five of his last six starts.
