2008 Centurion Boats at the Glenn Predictions & Odds
August 6, 2008
Get ready racing fans as NASCAR is heading to New York this weekend, for the 2008 Centurion Boats at the Glenn. This is not your every weekend race, as this week is the 2nd road course race of the season, and many drivers and fans will be grunting their way to the race this weekend. We on the other hand enjoy the different style track, and thinks its good to give some of the other drivers a chance to show off their skills this weekend. The guy to beat is definitely Tony Stewart as he has owned this race over the last 6 years. Stewart is not only your defending champion but has won this thing 4 times since 2002. Other guys that usually do well on road courses are guys like Jeff and Robby Gordon, and now you have to give some serious talk to Kyle Busch, who won the first road race of the season at the Save Mart 350. With such a different playing field this weekend, Jason Lowry is going to help you make your picks, as he throws out his weekly 1-2-3 predictions for the upcoming race this weekend.
1. Tony Stewart +450 at Sportsbook.com
You want to talk about a driver that loves racing on road courses, than look no further as Stewart has wiped up on most of the competition in his career at these venues. Stewart has 6 career wins on road courses, and we already talked about the dominance he has had over the last few years at this race track. The one thing to worry about Stewart in this on is that he has struggled to come up with a win at all this season, and for a guy that has dominated the sport in years past, its tough to figure out whats going on in 2008. We think all the talk will be put to rest when Stewart enters victory lane this weekend.
2. Carl Edwards +1500 at Sportsbook.com
Edwards really got things going again last weekend with a 1st place finish at the Brickyard, and he climbed his way into the top 3 in the point standings just 185 points behind the leader Busch. Edwards has struggled slightly on road courses during his career, but what better time than now to break out with a big win. Edwards has his best finish on a road course here, as he came in with a 5th place finish here in 2006. We like Edwards to race well this weekend, but we aren’t quite sure he will be able to sneak past the Stewart in this one.
3. Kyle Busch +800 at Sportsbook.com
You have to like what you have seen from the racing king of 2008, as he continues to rack up the wins this season. Last week Busch hit a minor road bump at the Brickyard, but he still has a pretty commanding lead in the point standings. With a win at the Save Mart 350 earlier this season, Busch elimated all talks of him not being able to win on road courses, and its not like he hasn’t done well at this track before. Busch has finished in the top 10 both of the last two years, including a 7th place finish a year ago. Busch is great pick this weekend, and we think he is going to come in more focused than normal after the rough go around last weekend.
