The Big 12 Conference has always been very competitive. With the college football season just around the corner it is now time to start looking at teams and their odds to win the division. This season it looks like the Big 12 is open for a number of teams to win it. There are 3 teams packed a top the leader board. Okalahoma, Texas and Missouri are all very tightly grouped and anyone of them could end up on top. Let’s take a look at these teams and what they have to offer:

Oklahoma Sooners (+150) – This year, the Oklahoma Sooners are leading the way in the Big 12 conference. They are early favorites and have an excellent squad. The one big question that surrounds them is their inability to win the big bowl games. In the 2006 season, the Sooners managed to lose in the Fiesta Bowl to Boise State. Oklahoma disappointed again last season as they were crushed by West Virginia. They are a very competitive team and hope to not only get to the BCS National Championship this year, but actually win it. The Sooners hope to have a great season. Oklahoma is going to return an offense which is almost impossible to stop. It is led by sophomore quarterback Sam Bradford, who now has more experience under his belt. Last season he threw for over 3100 passing yards and had an impressive 36 touchdowns. He also held the nations best passer rating. Look for him to continue to produce this season and hopefully lead Oklahoma to a Big 12 Conference title.

Texas Longhorns (+200) – The Longhorns come into this new season poised and ready to go. They are coming off of two consecutive 10-3 seasons and have very high expectation this year. Texas will need to address a few issues first. They have a terrible pass defense and will defiantly need to improve upon it if they want to have any chance to winning the Big 12. There are a lot of problems in the secondary as Texas allows opponents to have some big yardage games. On offense, Texas will lose some key pieces as well. Running back Jamaal Charles and wide receiver Limas Sweed are gone, but they still remain jam packed with offensive weapons. The high powered offense will be the Longhorns key to success. QB Colt McCoy is back again. He threw for 22 touchdowns last season but had 18 interceptions. McCoy will lead Texas and will look to improve on his numbers.

Missouri Tigers (+300) – Last year, the Missouri Tigers had a breakout season. They introduced themselves to the conference and were launched into the national spotlight by winning the Big 12. The Tigers were also on pace to get a BCS Championship berth, but fell just short. This year they are fired up and ready to go. Missouri returns 14 starters and have an excellent and dynamics offense as well of one of the top defenses in the entire league. Their quarterback, Chase Daniel had over 4300 yards of offense and 33 touchdown passes. He will lead the way for the Tigers and along his side will be his favorite target, Jermey Maclin. They were an excellent duo last season and hooked up many times for big plays. The Missouri Tigers can compete with anyone in the Big 12 this year and have a great shot to repeat and win it again.
