Philadelphia Eagles- NFC East Prediction- 1st Place (11-5)
Philly is still a team to be reckoned with in the NFC and by far the most complete team in the NFC East. They turned a 5-6 start into a double digit win season again last year-their fourth in five years. The Eagles could have very easily been in the NFC Championship game last year without Donovan McNabb. If McNabb can stay healthy and the Eagles can make some corrections to their faulty run defense, the Eagles will be legitimate contender for a trip to Arizona for Super Bowl XLII. They are a very solid value bet for you futures bettors.
Dallas Cowboys- NFC East Prediction- 2nd Place (9-7)
The Cowboys get a “B” grade all around. This team is not sensational, but they are very good. They do everything pretty well. Get ready for a sophomore slump out of Tony Romo who catapulted to stardom and a Pro Bowl way to quickly as QB of America’s team. As long as the circus is in town (Terrell Owens) expect the Cowboys to come up short because of all of his distractions. The offense will likely experience some growing pains under first-year offensive coordinator Jason Garrett. We’ll see just how valuable the Big Tuna really was to this team this season. My guess is that he was worth a lot more than people gave him credit for.
Washington Redskins- NFC East Prediction- 3rd Place (7-9)
The Redskins fans are cringing that I have their long time rivals ahead of them in the division standings. What do you expect though? Washington went from a 10-win season in 2005 in which they won a playoff game to a pathetic five-win year in 2006. Jason Campbell job at QB will be to hand the ball off to Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts and get out of the way. If Washington had a better defense, they could grind out games and win with this nice running back combo. Washington’s 31st ranked defense will be better in 2007 (how could it get any worse?), but not good enough to challenge for the division.
New York Giants- NFC East Prediction- 4th Place (6-10)
Coughlin survived all the talk of his removal to get another shot at doing something in the Big Apple. The Jets will be the better act on Broadway in 2007 and it will finally cost Coughlin his job. With the loss of Tiki Barber, more pressure will be on Eli Manning to produce. He has weapons in Plaxico Burress, Amani Toomer, and Jeremy Shockey that any quarterback would be ecstatic about, but he hasn’t lived up to expectations yet. This team has too much talent on offense to be finishing dead last in the NFC East, but it looks like that’s where it’s headed.
