Odds to Win the 2007 ACC Football Conference
May 21, 2008
Playing heavy favorites will cost you in the ACC Atlantic Division this season. Bodog lists Florida State as the heavy favorite, but this team is not anywhere near the caliber of the great teams that Bobby Bowden has had. The Seminoles are going to win the ACC Atlantic despite late season trips to Boston College and Virginia Tech with not much of an offense? I don’t think so. Even Clemson and Boston College is favored over our champion, Wake Forest, who is showing great value at 7/1 odds. The Demon Deacons return 15 starters from last year’s championship team, eight of those are on defense! We’ll let this rock solid football team cash in our futures bet in 2007.

In the ACC Coastal Division, look no further than the Virginia Tech Hokies. The Hokies get to play some of their toughest foes (Boston College, Miami, and Florida State) at home. An improved offensive line will likely make Branden Ore the MVP of the league and with preseason Defensive Player of the Year candidate Vince Hall in the middle of the defense, the Hokies should be the team to beat.
Georgia Tech will still be solid, but they just aren’t going to be able to replace Calvin Johnson and the fire power that he brought to this team.
Miami, like Florida State, has lost the battle once again of bringing in top notch offensive talent.
When making a pick to win the ACC Championship game, futures bettors should jump on Virginia Tech at +200 listed at BetUS. The Seminoles are surprisingly showing worse value at +150 and Miami is grossly not worthy of their +225. Virginia Tech has an explosive running attack and a top notch defense. The Hokies are the team to beat this season so you can rest easy placing your ACC title wager on them.
